The butter tarts were great. Very moist and just the right amount when you are craving something sweet.
They were very well packed and you can tell they put a lot of attention and care in how it was shipped. It arrived qui.
I have been enjoyinging Ackroyd's Irish Soda Bread for at least 13 years. I have a slice every morning with my coffee. And in traditional "across the pond style," Slathered with plenty of butter! I love it so ... keep it going dear Ackroyd's! Not enough left to photograph. Send my order soon, please.
These scones are always so good that I want to eat the whole package in one sitting. I really should make my own, but am too lazy. Thank you for making such yummy treats!
Steak pie was great, I think you changed the crust on the fern cakes that are Bakewell still good not a fan of the crust, the empire cakes/cookies filling is different I don’t like it, the gummie on top didn’t like at all.
Spot on PERFECT! I am 100% Scot, 1st generation American. My mother made these al the time for us...it was a main staple in our home. Now it is truly a treat to enjoy these pies. Thank you for keeping it authentic!
I was worried that the taste of a true Scottish haggis would be lacking after leaving it some of the "traditional" ingredients, but dreaming texture, and flavor were spit on.
Husband was disappointed when we ran out. Definitely recommend and will buy this again.
We really love these and ordered more for our family reunion next month!
I’ve been eating Ackroyd’s meat pies since I was a wee lass! My Grandfather moved from Glasgow, Scotland to Dearborn about 1928 and Ackroyd’s has been a tradition ever since.
The perfect breakfast sausage, also great as Bangers and Mash. Excellent flavor! Great with eggs and potato scones.
These were every bit as good as the Meat Pies and Pork Pies! Had them with some shredded beef and broccoli. The cheese and onion combo was great! We'll be ordering more!
Since my wife got over 90% Scottish results from Ancestery.com, we have visited Scotland several times. Enjoying Neeps and Tatties from Ackroyd's is just like being there again. It's delicious and traditional and we will definitely be back for more!
I have been enjoying Ackroyd’s stuff my entire life. So glad you are still here for all of us. The food is Better than ever!
Keep up the Greatness of Ackroyd’s and Long Live Scotland!!!!
Each year our church hosts a Burns Supper after our mass closest to the actual date. This year, we have grown significantly as a congregation and everyone was looking forward to the event. The amazing team at Ackroyds not only got the haggis to us in plenty of time but answered questions for us each step of the way.
The best part was how it came out! “Warm. Reekin’. Rich” indeed. Our haggis were flawless. The two presentation haggis split open during my address to the haggis and the crowd made an audible gasp. The taste, as I brought sample to each table, was given a resounding approval from each table.
We are so grateful for this company and their dedication to quality. I would like to give feedback on how folks enjoyed the butteries… but I ate them all in advance of the dinner. Beyond gold.
Neeps and tatties are a delicious and essential part of a Burns Night feast in my house. Tray is easy to heat in even a toaster oven. Texture is great and I love the peppery taste of the rutabaga.
I've have haggis many times in the Old Country, and I think this is as good as anything I've had there. I've not had other versions in the US, but I don't see any reason to stray from Ackroyd's. I've served this to many haggis skeptics, with encouraging results. While not everyone has become a huge haggis fan (it is a bit of an "acquired taste"), I've never had anyone refuse at least a first helping!
Thank you, Ackroyds bakery, your meat pies brought back memories of childhood, my sister, and I walking to downtown Wilkinsburg with my grandmother to buy their Scottish meat pies. I honestly believe my sister and I are experts, having eaten the pies for over 60 years, from Smith’s bakery from Highland games in Celtic festivals and all visiting my cousin in Edinburgh, Scotland, whose family designed the machine that makes the meat pie shells. I hardly recommend purchasing at least a dozen of these meat pies. They freeze well. I like mine with some HP sauce and my sister likes hers with Heinz tomato ketchup. 😉
