We taste tested several sources and ryhese are closest to the real thing. Plain scones are great with strawberry jam and cream. Microwave shortly after thawing from the freezer to taste fresh after freezing,
I love scones, and with a grandmother from Scotland, learned to make them when I was young. But mine, while good, aren't as good as Ackroyd's, and thawing and microwaving to warm one is a LOT easier than making them from scratch. With an "empty nest" and being semi retired, it's nice to just pop one in to warm while my tea brews in the morning. So tassty and always fresh and delicious.
The scones, no matter what flavor, are amazing. Delicate and flaky - perfect with a cup of tea or coffee!
