Returns and Refunds
Returns and Refunds Policy
Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. If anything arrives to your doorstep in less than satisfactory condition, please contact us by e-mail or phone. We will work with you to figure the best option, whether that means a store credit or reshipping your items. In very rare cases, we will provide a credit card refund, but the circumstances must meet certain criteria.
If a customer chooses ground shipping, please be aware that this method of shipping is NEVER guaranteed by UPS or FedEx. That means delivery dates are estimates and reshipping will not always be an option, though a refund may be. Please note your estimated delivery date when ordering. In the summer especially, it is important to bring your food inside as soon as it is delivered.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot offer refunds for discrepancies in personal taste. We taste test every batch we produce, so nothing leaves our building without going through at least one layer of quality control. In most cases, each of our items goes through multiple layers. If you simply do not like an item, we apologize, but we cannot offer a refund based on personal preferences.
All weights are PRECOOKED. There may be some minor discrepancies plus or minus on cooked meats like Haggis, black pudding, mealie pudding, etc.
We are very clear in our product descriptions about products weights and, in some cases, "best by" dates. Some photos may not match the product description, but the description is almost always correct. We cannot provide refunds for items purchased without reading the product description. This is particularly important for items like Scotch Eggs and crisps.
Shipping in the summer can be especially tricky, so please be certain to take extra care that all pertinent shipping information has been entered correctly. We will be especially diligent in making sure your food arrives in the best condition possible regardless of weather.
If you have any questions or concerns prior to placing an order, please feel free to call us directly at 313-532-1181 or send us an e-mail to info@ackroydsbakery.com.
A Note about Pricing
We are very conscious of our pricing and the costs involved in running our business. There's a common misconception that food - and by proxy labor - should be cheap. We pay all of our employees a living wage, cover the majority of their health care costs, and try to offer some semblence of work-life balance. We have operated throughout the 2020 pandemic without closing once. We believe every person who works for us shouldn't have to work two jobs to make ends meet simply because our food should be "cheap." If you would like to talk more about how our pricing and compensation structure work, we would happily talk about this over the phone. In fact, we would welcome it, but we refuse to believe that our food is "expensive," because all we want is a good life for ourselves and our employees.
