Many Ackroyd's customers are accustomed to Fern Cakes. Bakewell Tarts are just like Fern Cakes, except ours have more almond flavor. We start with a 4" Wick's Pie Shell (contains lard), fill it with strawberry jam and almond cake, and finish it with a layer of handmade icing and toasted slivered almonds. Each Bakewell Tart can easily serve 2, meaning there are 8 servings per 4 pack.

My in-laws in MN never had Bakewell Tarts. Ackroyd’s is always a delicious introduction to Scottish treats. I really miss the smaller sizes from the old storefront, because they are so pretty on a Christmas dessert table when everyone is on a diet January 1st.
