Spiced Fruit Buns are our Hot Cross Buns, but without the cross. They are spiced sweet buns made with raisins and candied fruit. If you add an icing cross on top and you'll have what's known as a "Hot Cross Bun," which is traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the British Isles.
We took away the cross for a couple reasons. First, the icing cross simply doesn’t hold up upon reheating. Since we ship these across the United States, an icing cross just wouldn’t work. Second, we tried to bake on a cross, but we were not happy with how those crosses turned out and they took away from the flavor rather than improve it.
