One of the most requested items we are asked for, Aberdeen Butteries (or Rowies) are similar to smashed croissants. As labor intensive as these are, we felt they are way too delicious to hold back. Ours are hand made with lots of butter, hence the name. Approximately 454g, usually 4 or 5 butteries.

We prefer our Butteries with jam and/or clotted cream.

Please note: Aberdeen Butteries require reheating. We suggest putting them in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. Do not eat your Butteries without reheating as they will not taste like they should.

My family and are from Peterhead, Scotland so Butteries were a staple growing up. These are SO authentic, and it makes us feel like we are right back at Downie's bakery buying these. BUY THEM! You will not regret it!!

    Like being in Aberdeen!

Published by Lauraine W on May 1st 2021

My mother is from Aberdeen Scotland, her and I were talking about Rowies and how we missed them. Found Ackroyd's and placed an order. The first bite transported me back to my fondest memory of walking with my great aunt to the corner shop while visiting her in Aberdeen to pickup some warm Rowies for our breakfast. Mom and I were amazed how the butter in the States butteries versus the lard in the ones made in Scotland still tasted like the real deal. It had the nice crunch on the top and bottom but still melted in your mouth. Saving my pennies to order more, was a bit expensive shipping to Florida. Well done Ackroyd’s Bakery, we are your new fans!
